Rupert and Renfrew Station Area Plan

With your help, we’re reimagining the area around the Rupert and Renfrew SkyTrain stations as we plan for future growth and look for opportunities to:

• advance reconciliation
• add more housing choices
• enhance Still Creek
• support job growth
• make it easier to walk, cycle, or roll through the area.

This spring we heard from over 1,000 people as part of our public engagement events and had almost 600 people take our community survey. An Engagement Summary of these events is now available.

We have begun drafting the plan and we are working hard to make sure that one of the key elements that makes this neighbourhood so unique, Still Creek, is able to thrive in the future. In addition to being the only salmon bearing creek in the city, the creek also helps with drainage and is considered part of the area’s stormwater infrastructure! The updated Still Creek Enhancement Study has now been released and we'll be sharing the results of the study with the community this fall:

• "Wetland Wonders: Explore Learn and Connect at Falaise Park" - Saturday, October 7, 10:00 - 12:00 - We're partnering with Still Moon Arts Society, to learn about the City's plans for Falaise Park, participate in a BioBlitz of the park, and learn about Still Creek. Try on a bird costume, make a rope out of plants and enjoy some refreshments.
• Info Pop-Ups - An opportunity for the community to learn about Still Creek and ask questions of staff:
  • Thursday, October 12, 2023 - VPL Renfrew Branch, 2:00 - 4:30 pm
  • Tuesday, October 17, 2023 - Renfrew Park Community Centre, 4:00 - 7:00 pm
  • Wednesday, October 25, 2023 - Thunderbird Community Centre, 3:00 - 6:00 pm
• Still Creek Fest - Saturday, November 4, 1:00 - 4:00 pm - Join us, Still Moon Arts, and Stream of Dreams for a community celebration of Still Creek, featuring wooden fish painting to update the Still Creek Fish on Fences mural, Community Vision Quilt needle felting, children's entertainment and much more.

We’re currently finishing some additional technical work and studies to understand how we can keep Still Creek healthy, including maintaining the flow of groundwater to the creek year-round. This analysis means we won’t have a Draft Plan ready to share this fall: public engagement on the Draft Plan is now scheduled for early 2024. Our fall events are information updates and a chance for the community to learn more about Still Creek.
