In July 2022, Council approved the Vancouver Plan, a long-range strategy to manage growth and change across the city. The Vancouver Plan identified 25 Villages in different areas of the city where there are already some shops and services.

The goal is for these future Villages to grow into vibrant, lively, and connected neighbourhoods. Villages will enable "missing middle" housing up to six storeys and new opportunities for shops and services, all within a short walk, bike or roll.

The Villages Planning Program connects to one of the Vancouver Plan's Three Big Ideas: Equitable Housing and Complete Neighbourhoods.

The current planning program focuses on 17 Villages. Work on the remaining eight are included in other current or future planning programs.

We are currently in the first phase of engagement, which will conclude Friday, January 3. In spring 2025, we will share a summary report with the community. There will be further opportunities to provide input in later phases of the project.

  • We want to better understand how you use the Villages today, what you value about your Village and what could be improved.

Your feedback from this survey will help us develop policies and guidelines that will guide future growth in the Villages. More opportunities for feedback on the draft policies will be provided in later phases of the planning program.

This survey will take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, depending on the number of questions you choose to provide comments on. The survey will close on Friday, January 3, 2025

Paper copies will be available at in-person open houses.
