The City of Vancouver is exploring how to create more places to play, relax, socialize and feel more connected to nature in Kitsilano, Fairview and Mount Pleasant.
The Broadway public realm plan will identify what public open space and street improvements will best support the area and its future growth. It includes public open spaces on City-owned streets and properties and privately owned public spaces (POPS), such as office plazas. This work will also create a streetscape plan. The streetscape plan will guide the transformation of the Broadway Corridor into a “Great Street.”
This is part of the City's work to implement the Broadway Plan. The Broadway Plan is an area plan that guides growth around the Broadway subway over the next 30 years. It was approved by Council in June 2022.
Public engagement is now closed
Between June 13 and July 14, we asked for your feedback on the public realm plan's draft key moves. Public engagement is now closed. An engagement summary (PDF, 38 MB) is now available sharing what we heard. Your feedback will help us refine the draft public realm plan and the draft Broadway streetscape plan. This work will be presented to Council for consideration in November (2024).

City Hall Campus (known as Civic District): Focuses on creating a long-term plan for the City lands around Vancouver’s City Hall.
The Public Realm and Streetscape Plan: Focuses on improvements to the streets and public spaces in the area over the next 30 years.
Broadway Plan Review: Focuses on reviewing some of the Plan’s land use and built form policies and proposing adjustments where necessary to achieve the Plan’s objectives. It also includes updates to the Plan to reflect new provincially legislated requirements for Transit-Oriented Areas (TOAs).
