A painting of the Memorial Square sculpture and a small gathering of people at it's bottom. The background shows green trees and the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden.

Chinatown Memorial Square is located in the heart of Vancouver's Chinatown at the corner of Keefer Street and Columbia Street. This valued public space hosts important community events such as the Remembrance Day ceremony, and draws many visitors to the neighbourhood where they can learn about the contributions of Chinese people in Canada. It also provides a space for community members to honour their culture and traditions.

This project is an important part of Chinatown's living heritage. We are working with the community, stakeholders and people from across Vancouver to improve Chinatown Memorial Square as an accessible public space while developing a design that enhances its culture and history.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

We want your feedback on the draft vision and goals we developed based on what we heard during Phase 1 of the public engagement. We're also sharing some initial ideas on how the size of the square could be increased.

The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete, and we are receiving feedback until December 13, 2021.

Paper copies are available on request, and can be submitted by mail.

Your responses will help guide the redesign process and consultant when developing the design options.
