Chinatown Memorial Square is located in the heart of Vancouver's Chinatown at the corner of Keefer Street and Columbia Street. This valued public space hosts important community events and draws many visitors to the neighbourhood where they can learn about the contributions of Chinese people in Canada. It also provides a space for community members to honour culture and traditions.

This project is an important part of Chinatown's living heritage. We are working with the community, stakeholders and people from across Vancouver to improve Chinatown Memorial Square as an accessible public space while developing a design that enhances its culture and history.

  • We want to improve Chinatown Memorial Square as a vibrant and inter-generational public space. The new design will be flexible, accessible and inclusive. It will also enhance the cultural and historic character of the neighbourhood.

Three design concepts were created and shaped by what we have heard from the community, interest holders, and people from across Vancouver.  Your feedback on the three design concepts will help us develop a final design concept.
