A painting of the Memorial Square sculpture and a small gathering of people at it's bottom. The background shows green trees and the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden.

Chinatown Memorial Square is located in the heart of Vancouver's Chinatown at the corner of Keefer Street and Columbia Street. This valued public space hosts important community events such as the Remembrance Day ceremony, and draws many visitors to the neighbourhood where they can learn about the contributions of Chinese people in Canada. It also provides a space for community members to honour their culture and traditions.

This project is an important part of Chinatown's living heritage. We want to improve Chinatown Memorial Square as an accessible public space while developing a design that enhances its culture and history.

Please share your ideas with us, and encourage your family and friends to do so too.

Ways to get involved:

  • Take our survey
  • Email us with your comments at memorialsquareredesign@vancouver.ca
  • Leave us a voicemail to add your thoughts, request a paper copy of the survey or have someone call you back at 604-829-9416.

We are receiving feedback until December 13, 2021.

Your responses will guide the development of values and a vision that will steer the redesign process.
