Welcome to Granville Street! Eclectic and electric.
Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Granville Street is situated on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Vancouver’s downtown Granville Street area is an iconic and unique entertainment district with a rich cultural history. Known for its neon signs, this area of Granville Street is a central hub for arts, music and live performance, along with retail, office space, hotels, theatres, night clubs and dining establishments.
It is not without its challenges – there is growing interest from community partners, residents, visitors, businesses, and other stakeholders to bring forward new ideas and a fresh approach to help reinvigorate the area.
We want to hear from you
Help us design and create a new and improved Granville Street! Together, let’s celebrate and imagine the future of Vancouver’s main street and entertainment district as an exciting, welcoming, safe, and inclusive downtown destination that is alive with activity, day and night.
The new plan will:
- advance Reconciliation, equity and accessibility
- support arts, culture and heritage in Vancouver
- prioritize programs that support gender-based and overall safety
- expand and enhance public space to support a range of activities
- protect and strengthen job space
- expand tourism
- improve connections to active transportation and transit
Through the planning process, City staff will engage and work with community partners, equity-deserving groups, residents, stakeholders, and business owners on the future of Granville Street.
Phase 1 engagement for the Granville Street Planning Program is now closed.
