July 2025 – Rupert and Renfrew Station Area Plan Approved by Council

On July 8, 2025, Vancouver City Council approved the Rupert and Renfrew Station Area Plan. The plan sets a clear direction for the next 25 years of growth around the Rupert and Renfrew SkyTrain stations, supporting more housing, jobs, public spaces, and a restored Still Creek. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this milestone!

Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations were involved throughout the process, while broader public feedback was gathered from 43 open houses and workshops, 72 engagement events and over 2,100 completed surveys.

WHAT’S NEXT

With City Council’s recent approval of the Rupert and Renfrew Plan, we’re beginning to receive interest from property owners and developers who want to build new housing, shops, or workspaces in the area. To take advantage of the opportunities outlined in the Plan, many sites will need to go through a process called rezoning, which changes what’s currently allowed on a property, such as the type of building, its size, or how it’s used.

Renfrew Ravine Study
We’re also launching a short study around Renfrew Ravine. This will help guide future decisions on how to protect the ravine’s natural features, address slope stability, and identify if and where new housing could be introduced in a thoughtful and sustainable way.
