March 2025 - Phase 3 Public Engagement: What We Heard
Since the launch of this planning program, the City has engaged with the public and stakeholders to gather input on how to enhance downtown Granville Street. Earlier this year, the City asked for feedback on the draft Plan directions for the area, which were developed from public input collected in previous engagement phases.
The most recent round of public engagement, held from February 4 to 23, reached a wide range of participants through various activities, including public open houses, workshops, targeted information sessions, an online survey, and a youth walking tour.
Key highlights of Phase 3 engagement include:
- Received over 2,700 completed surveys and had over 5,000 comments
- Overall strong support for the proposed directions
- Strong support for live performance, cultural and entertainment activities
- Ongoing concerns about safety and cleanliness
- Strong support for mixed-use development in the 800 and 1200 blocks of Granville
- Strong support for a pedestrian zone on Granville
- Some concerns about the potential travel impacts on Howe and Seymour Streets
For more details about our latest phase of engagement, including detailed results of the survey, please see the Phase 3 Public Engagement Summary.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the planning process so far. Public input, along with technical considerations, will be used to refine the final Granville Street Plan which will be presented to Council in early June.
