What changes are you making as part of the Dunsmuir/Melville Street Upgrades: Downtown Bike Network Expansion project? We are planning a 0.9-kilometre two-way protected bike lane extension along Dunsmuir/Melville Street, extending from the current Dunsmuir Street protected bike lane at Hornby Street to the Coal Harbour Seawall. Why is this work being done?
The Dunsmuir/Melville Street Upgrades: Downtown Bike Network Expansion project is a priority in the 2023-2027 Active Mobility Plan. The project would expand Vancouver’s All Ages and Abilities (AAA) active mobility lanes, connecting key destinations and enhancing the city’s walking and cycling networks.
How much will this cost?
This project is estimated to cost $4.5 million. As part of TransLink’s Major Bikeway Network, up to 75% of the project cost is eligible for TransLink funding.
When will this project be completed?
Engagement for this project took place in Summer-Fall 2024. Based on the public feedback we received, the detailed design and procurement will take place in 2025. Project construction is expected to start in 2026.
