Together with the community, we are working on the rezoning phase of the Britannia Renewal.

In 2018, project partners (the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Park Board, Vancouver School Board, Vancouver Public Library and Britannia Community Services Society) adopted a Master Plan that sets out the vision for the renewal of the Britannia Community Services Centre.

We are now working on the next phase of the renewal, which is to submit a site wide rezoning application. Building upon the Master Plan, the rezoning process will identify the types of uses that can be included on site, and a number of development criteria including building density, heights, and green space requirements.

This webpage provides a one-stop location where you can learn about the Britannia Renewal, provide your feedback on the rezoning phase, and stay up to date on future engagement opportunities.

Provide your feedback:

  • New in-person engagement opportunities in September 2021! See Key dates for event details.
  • Use this map to tell us how you connect to the land, nature, and places that make Britannia.

Feedback received will help project partners develop detailed design options for the site, which will then be presented to the community for addition feedback in the spring.

Britannia's important places and spaces

8 months

Use this map to tell us how you connect to the land, nature and places that make Britannia the heart and soul of the community:

  • What places make you feel comfortable? What places make you feel uncomfortable? Why?
  • What places do you like to sit at and enjoy your surroundings? What colours, sounds and smells make this place important?
  • Are there any spaces that are not currently available that you would like to see added through the rezoning?

The information you provide will help the design team develop site options for the future rezoning application for the Britannia site, including:

  • develop guidelines for building features and qualities
  • think about key access points
  • decide on the placement of buildings and what goes next to buildings
  • plan outdoor spaces
  • set buildings heights and footprints
