688 Hamilton St Sign By-law amendment
The City of Vancouver has received an application to amend the existing Sign By-law for four signs at 688 Hamilton Street. The application proposes the following amendments:
- Sign 1: The proposed sign will replace the smaller existing sign along W Georgia Street with a 3.8 m x 2.2 m electronic static image sign and illuminated LED side panel. The proposed sign is equipped with technology to adjust sign brightness.
- Signs 2 and 3: The proposed signs will be replacing the existing copy and screen with new copy and an electronic static image sign of the same size. Sign 2 along Hamilton Street is also proposing to add an illuminated LED-lit side panel.
- Sign 4: The proposed sign will replacing the smaller existing sign along Cambie Street with a new 4.1 m x 3.3 m free-standing electronic static image sign.
The application is being considered under the Sign By-law.
In response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we held an extended online question and answer (Q&A) period in place of an in-person open house for this project.
Online Public Hearing: Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 6:00 pm
On March 9, 2021 City Council referred this application to a Public Hearing.
This Public Hearing is to be convened by electronic means as authorized by Ministerial Order No. M192, "Local Government Meetings and Bylaw Process (COVID-19) Order No. 3".
Due to COVID-19, a Public Health Order currently prohibits members of the public from attending the City’s Public Hearings in person. Members of the public can listen and watch the proceedings via the City’s website or follow Twitter @VanCityClerk. Speakers can participate by telephone or by providing written submissions.

Copies of the draft by-laws will be available for viewing at all times on the meeting agenda online, starting Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 1:00 pm. Meeting minutes will also be available at this location approximately two business days after the hearing.
