The Development Permit Board approved the application on May 30, 2022, subject to conditions.  A Development Permit may be issued once all conditions have been satisfied. For more information, please see the Prior-to letter under "Application documents"

Perkins+Will Architects has applied to the City of Vancouver for permission to develop the following on this site:

  • A 10-storey building proposal for the Vancouver Art Gallery, with three-storey below grade levels
  • A maximum building height of 69.4 m (227.7 ft.) from grade
  • A total floor area of approximately 27,960 m² (300,955 sq.ft.)
  • Program to be operated by the Vancouver Art Gallery includes retail, library, gallery, classrooms and meeting rooms, offices and back of house support services, theatre, childcare facility, restaurant, and ancillary service spaces
  • Parking is accessed via ramp on right-of-way on the north, with loading accessed from the private service lane

Under the site’s existing DD zoning, the application is “conditional” so it may be permitted. However, it requires the decision of the Development Permit Board.

In response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we held an extended online question and answer (Q&A) period in place of an in-person open house for this project.
