The Director of Planning approved this application, and a Development Permit was issued on July 2, 2024.
Place of Refuge has applied to the City of Vancouver for permission to perform interior alterations and change of use from Single Detached House to an 11 bed Community Care Facility – Class B, on this existing site, consisting of:
Housing for up to 11 individuals
Staff support and supervision available 24/7 on-site, to meet the needs of each resident
The intent is to provide safe housing for up to eleven adult men and individuals who identify as men, supporting them through counselling, life skills, coaching, educational and employment supports. The program offers long-term residential transitional support.
Place of Refuge currently operates an existing community care home in the Sunset community. With programming established in 2009, Place of Refuge has worked in partnership with the community to provide important recovery programs.
Under the site’s existing R1-1 zoning, the application is “conditional” so it may be permitted. However, it requires the decision of the Director of Planning.
