The Director of Planning has requested you be advised that this development application was withdrawn by the applicant on March 31, 2023.


The City of Vancouver has applied for permission to:

  • Demolish the existing two-storey Heritage B building
  • To serve the Economic Development of the local community by changing the use of the site to a Street Market, consisting of:
    • Operations run MakeWay Charitable Society dba Binners Project
    • Market stall space for the Downtown Eastside Market, to include space for 30-35 vendors, two toilet facilities, tents, site office and storage container
    • Operational times proposed to run seven (7) days a week from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with set-up at 8:00am and clean-up by 6:00pm

Under the site’s Downtown Eastside Operational Plan, the application is “conditional” so it may be permitted. However, it requires the decision of the Director of Planning.
