Collingwood Park Renewal
Consultation has concluded
The Vancouver Park Board is renewing Collingwood Park in the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood as many of the features in the park are nearing the end of their lifespan and will need to be replaced or improved.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the two rounds of engagement that supported in the development of the concept design which was approved by the Board on March 27, 2023. This report summarizes the feedback we received on the proposed concept during the second round of engagement in November/December 2022. Please see the Phase 2 Engagement Boards for the concept design and more information.
What's Happening
Wet weather over the fall and spring slowed progress on the park renewal but construction is now nearing completion. We anticipate improvements to be finished and park reopened in early July.
The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation acknowledges, with respect, that our parks are located on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.

The improvements include a new playground, skateboard feature, splash pad, pathways and seating. Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2024. During construction, portions of the park will be closed to public use.

Through the VanPlay(External link) Initiative zone assessment, this area was identified as having low amounts of park space per resident, high demand for affordable and accessible recreation, and fewer street/park trees compared to other areas in the city.
Many of the features in the park are nearing the end of their lifespan and will need to be replaced or improved as part of the renovation, in order to support a vibrant and growing community. Features to be upgraded or replaced include the playground, sports court, wading pool, pathways, field drainage and planting.
