The Vancouver Park Board is renewing Collingwood Park in the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood as many of the features in the park are nearing the end of their lifespan and will need to be replaced or improved. 

Thank you to everyone who participated in the two rounds of engagement that supported in the development of the concept design which was approved by the Board on March 27, 2023. This report summarizes the feedback we received on the proposed concept during the second round of engagement in November/December 2022. Please see the Phase 2 Engagement Boards for the concept design and more information.

What's Happening

Construction has now begun. Much of the park is now closed including the playground, wading pool, and sport court. The softball field will remain open but will have temporary fencing impacting the outfield. We anticipate construction to be completed in the early spring 2025.

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation acknowledges, with respect, that our parks are located on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.

    The Vancouver Park Board is renewing Collingwood Park. The improvements include a new playground, skateboard feature, splash pad, pathways and seating. Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2024. During construction, portions of the park will be closed to public use.

    The proposed concept plan and program is based on the ideas and feedback received from the public consultation in May 2022, in which over 600 people contributed through an online survey and pop-up in the park.

    We are asking for your feedback on this concept plan for the Collingwood Park Renewal before it is presented to the Park Board Commissioners for approval. Please see the Phase 2 Engagement Boards for the concept design and let us know what you think by taking the survey by December 5, 2022.

    In this first round of engagement, from May 20 - June 9, 2022, we were looking to understand the community's vision for the renewed park. Over 600 people contributed through an online survey and pop-up in the park. The survey asked questions about how they use the park and what they would like to see in the future.

    Based on what we heard in Phase 1 engagement, the publics' feedback was used to develop design concepts to present back to the community for review and feedback in the fall. To read results, please see: Phase 1 Engagement Summary.

    Collingwood Park is a 1.27 hectare park in the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood, two blocks north of Kingway. Through the VanPlay(External link) Initiative zone assessment, this area was identified as having low amounts of park space per resident, high demand for affordable and accessible recreation, and fewer street/park trees compared to other areas in the city.

    Many of the features in the park are nearing the end of their lifespan and will need to be replaced or improved as part of the renovation, in order to support a vibrant and growing community. Features to be upgraded or replaced include the playground, sports court, wading pool, pathways, field drainage and planting.
