Help shape the future of Britannia

In 2018, the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Park Board, Vancouver School Board, Vancouver Public Library and Britannia Community Services Society adopted a master plan that sets out the vision for the renewal of the Britannia Community Services Centre. The Britannia Renewal Master Plan is a summary of many voices and a record of the needs, dreams and aspirations of the community of Britannia’s renewal.

What's happening?

Together with the community, we are currently working on the rezoning phase of the Britannia Renewal.

Rezoning is the process of changing how a property can be used or developed. Building on the master plan, the focus of the rezoning phase is to identify the types of services and spaces that can be included on site and development criteria, such as building density and heights. Before we submit a rezoning application to Vancouver City Council for the renewed Britannia, we will explore options to find creative solutions to meet the diverse needs of the community through four steps of rezoning engagement.

Since 2021, project partners have been meeting with community members to learn about the diverse perspectives regarding the renewal and future use of Britannia. In spring 2022, we asked how the community wants to use the future services and spaces that will be renewed with Building 1 of the Britannia Renewal, identified by the master plan as including a pool, gymnasium, fitness spaces and childcare centre.

Get involved:

Community engagement for Building 1 Spaces and Services was available during in-person open houses on May 16 & 28. Feedback could also be provided to project partners by email during the month of May.

Building 1 Spaces and Services engagement is now closed. Thank you to everyone who shared your voice and let us know how the community wants to use the future spaces that will be renewed with Building 1.

Project partners are developing site-wide options that look at the overall placement of building relationships, heights, outdoor spaces and opportunities for non-market housing. In fall 2022, we will engage with the community to get your input on these site options. Check back here for upcoming engagement opportunities!
