Thank you for sharing your feedback on the 2021 Drinking in Public Plazas Pilot. You can view the engagement and monitoring summary here. The feedback we received will be used to inform future public space policies and projects.
Public plazas (or area within a plaza) participating in the pilot were spaces where people could responsibly and respectfully enjoy alcoholic beverages. You could bring your own drinks, enjoy take-out from local businesses, socialize, people watch, have a picnic, and enjoy the urban outdoors.
Drinking was allowed in the following public plazas between the hours of 11:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, until October 11, 2021:
City staff worked with community partners, local police, and the regional health authority to make sure spaces were safe, properly managed, and well-maintained.

The survey is open for your feedback. Until October 11, we are monitoring the pilot sites and reviewing feedback we receive.
Pilot ends
Drinking in Public Plazas Pilot is currently at this stage
After October 11, the pilot ends and drinking will no longer be permitted at the plazas. The survey closes and we will analyze what we have heard, learned, and observed before reporting back on our findings.
