The Director of Planning approved this application, and a Development Permit was issued on October 31, 2023.


Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc. has applied to the City of Vancouver for permission to develop:

  • A two-storey, Passive House Community Centre (Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre) with:
    • An accessory Senior Centre on the first storey and a Child Daycare Facility on the second storey
    • An outdoor swimming pool
    • A total proposed floor area of 186,300 ft2 (17,308 m2)
    • A proposed height of 40.7 ft. (12.4 m)
    • One level of underground parking, having vehicular access from Park Dr
  • A portion of the park with splash pad, children’s playground, sports court and performance circle

Under the site’s existing RS-1 zoning, the application is “conditional” so it may be permitted. However, it requires the decision of the Director of Planning.
