The Development Permit Board approved this application, and a Development Permit was issued on January 15, 2024.
The City of Vancouver has received an application to develop this site with a 13-storey apartment building. The proposal includes:
129 social housing units
A Floor Space Ratio of 3.78
An approximate floor area of 6,803 m² (73,225 sq.ft.)
An approximate height of 47m (154 ft.)
Seven vehicle parking spaces and 188 bicycle parking spaces
The development application follow the rezoning application approved in principle by City Council at a Public Hearing on July 26, 2022, and was adopted through the BC Legislative Assembly Bill 26 - Municipalities Enabling and Validating (No. 5) Amendment Act of 2023. Approval of the Form of Development and decision of the Development Permit Board are required.
To help address the housing crisis in Vancouver, the City is prioritizing the processing and delivery of deeply affordable housing projects that leverage significant senior government investment. To help us do this, the Province has introduced legislative amendments through the Municipalities Enabling and Validating Act, to allow the Arbutus Project to move forward as soon as possible.
