The City of Vancouver is exploring how to create more places to play, relax, socialize and feel more connected to nature in Kitsilano, Fairview and Mount Pleasant.

The Broadway public realm plan will identify what public open space and street improvements will best support the area and its future growth. It includes public open spaces on City-owned streets and properties and privately owned public spaces (POPS), such as office plazas. This work will also create a streetscape plan. The streetscape plan will guide the transformation of the Broadway Corridor into a “Great Street.”

This is part of the City's work to implement the Broadway Plan. The Broadway Plan is an area plan that guides growth around the Broadway subway over the next 30 years. It was approved by Council in June 2022.

Council Approved

On December 12, Council adopted policies for the Broadway Public Realm Plan as part of the updates the Broadway Plan.

The City of Vancouver is exploring what future improvements can be made to create more places to play, relax, socialize and feel more connected to nature in Kitsilano, Fairview and Mount Pleasant.

The Broadway Plan, approved by Council in June 2022, is an area plan to guide growth and positive change in the neighbourhoods surrounding the Broadway Subway over the next 30 years. During the engagement process we heard thousands of people’s ideas, interests and opportunities for streets, parks, and public open spaces.

The Broadway Public Realm Plan will identify what public open space and street improvements would best support the area and its and future growth. It will include public open spaces on City-owned streets and properties, as well as privately owned public spaces (POPS), such as office plazas. A Streetscape Plan for Broadway will also be created and will guide the transformation of the Broadway Corridor into a “Great Street.”

Your feedback will be summarized and used to inform the Draft Public Realm Plan and Draft Broadway Streetscape Plan that will be shared in early 2024.
