Thank you for sharing your feedback on the 2021 Drinking in Public Plazas Pilot. You can view the engagement and monitoring summary here. The feedback we received will be used to inform future public space policies and projects.

Public plazas (or area within a plaza) participating in the pilot were spaces where people could responsibly and respectfully enjoy alcoholic beverages. You could bring your own drinks, enjoy take-out from local businesses, socialize, people watch, have a picnic, and enjoy the urban outdoors.

Drinking was allowed in the following public plazas between the hours of 11:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, until October 11, 2021:

  • Cambie St and 17th Ave
  • 800 Robson
  • Fraser St and 27th Ave
  • Granville St and 13th Ave
  • Granville St and 14th Ave
  • Maple St and 4th Ave

(Check out the photo gallery for site maps.)

City staff worked with community partners, local police, and the regional health authority to make sure spaces were safe, properly managed, and well-maintained.
